What is Jolto?
Jolto is a UK dating and social app for gay and bi men. Full desktop website, iOS and Android apps, one account. Dating, friendship and casual all welcome. It asks before anyone can send you an explicit photo, lets you set who can message you first, and keeps messaging and safety free.
Is it free?
Yes. Messaging, blocking, reporting, the consent gate, age-range control and every other safety feature are free for everyone. A paid tier will add extras like travel mode and more albums. Safety is never behind a paywall.
Is it for hookups or dating?
Both, and friendship too. You pick what you're here for and the app shows you people who want the same thing. Nobody's intention is treated as better than anyone else's.
How does the consent gate work?
If someone tries to send an explicit photo, it is held and you get asked. You can say yes for him, yes for anyone, no for him, or no for anyone. The photo is never delivered until you say yes, and your answer is remembered.
Can I control who messages me?
Yes. Set the age range that can open a chat with you, and optionally hide from anyone outside it. It works the same for everyone and you can change it any time.
Will there be a proper website, not just an app?
Yes. The desktop site has everything: search, full messaging, forums, groups, settings and billing. The apps share the same account.
When does it launch in my city?
We launch city by city, starting with the first city to fill its waitlist. Join the list, pick your city and share your link to move it up. We'll email you when your city opens.
Is it only for gay men?
Gay and bi men first. The platform is built so that the wider LGBTQ+ community can join later with proper controls, not bolted on.
